Dear Fellow-Believers & Friends,
I have been in contact with the brethren in the Dominican Republic. [DR] I have every confidence in them because we have worked with them through two hurricanes and the clinic/school/assembly in the NE corner of Haiti. Additionally there are some 7 Haitian assemblies in the capital of the DR and an additional 9 Haitian assemblies on the very border at the SW corner of the DR.
The Dominican brethren have ministered to the Haitians for over 60 yrs and have a vast experience in helping them. Unfortunately, in Haiti there is much abuse of monies sent and we want to have no part of that whatsoever. That being the case, I sent a barrage of questions yesterday to our key brother in the DR and have now some very intelligent answers. Please find them below:
Question: Do we have any solid contacts in the capital of Haiti?
Answer: I have just finished speaking with several elders here in the capital [DR] who inform me that we do have a brother who lives in Port of Prince, Haiti. He has just arrived from Port of Prince via highway. We are having a meeting with him tonight to get a first-hand report on conditions as they truly are.
Just as soon as I come out of that meeting I will write you and let you know what the brethren’s decisions are as it relates to help. I will never forget the last experience that I had in Haiti, delivering goods. We were forced to turn it all over to a governmental committee in Haiti and they then in turn distributed it as they wished.
Question: How would we deliver the help?
Answer: That is a great problem. At the moment, there is no social order or police protection. From what we have heard not even the foreign police/soldiers have been able to bring order so that they can deliver their donations/goods.
I told the brethren that I prefer that we wait until all the international help and press has done their work and gone. We, then can move in with a team and help the believers from here in a righteous and honorable way.
Alfredo, please be patient with us, but I assure you that we will keep you informed as quickly as we are able to act in a proper way. It is never and will never be our intention to receive funds that will be used in a corrupt way. It has happened and happens more frequently than any of us wish. In that regard our Dominican & Haitian brethren are and have been so meticulous that it brings great confidence and joy that we can work with folk that are above reproach. Just as the brother above has asked me to be patient, I would ask you to bear with us too. I would like to say that while we might not be able to immediately process the funds, and get instant results, 100% of what is received will enable us to move in a concerted and efficient direction once the Lord opens up a line of action for us to move toward. Our current position is simply this: ACT – Assess the need Consider how to attack the problem Take action in a way that would honor the Lord It is this writer’s opinion that all funds should be handled and spent with great care and in a God-honoring way.
Therefore we strongly recommend that folks who want to help please forward any help to:
- CMML in New Jersey, USA
- DNS Relief in Ontario Canada and the USA
- MSC in Ontario Canada
- N. 56th Street Gospel Chapel here in Tampa Bay, FL
Thank you for your interest and in no way should you consider this a solicitation. Al Adams
